Director, Advanced Solutions -CAN


This position will be responsible for the development of the overall Canada Advanced Solutions business, including the areas of data center enablement technologies, virtualization, security and related emerging technologies and software and service offerings, among others. This leader will work directly with the enterprise technology, emerging technology and services vendors across the region and will manage the regional vendor relationships in these areas.  Key to the role will be the development and coordination of a regional business plan to enhance and grow Advanced Solutions offerings.

This person will be a primary point of contact for segments of the Advanced Solutions business for Canada.  This person will work directly with leadership in the country to continuously improve performance and Ingram Micro market share in the Advanced Solutions Market, and to share best practices between countries/regions.

Overall Objective: 

  • To prepare, plan and achieve the sales and profitability targets for the Advanced Solutions division
  • To develop overall go-to-market strategy for Advanced Solutions, including development of new markets and sales opportunities (segments, channels, customers.)
  • Coordinate strategy and tactical efforts between marketing, sales and vendor management for Advanced Solutions lines of business
  • To develop and maintain strong partner relationships and effective implementation of strategy for the development of Advanced Solutions throughout the Canadian region.
  • To continually look for ways to improve the effectiveness of the business.
  • Assist as a team member on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnership opportunity identification, analysis and negotiation
  • Explore shared service and knowledge center-pooling opportunities throughout region, while working with regional leadership to optimize headcount and overall investment
  • To manage the Advanced Solutions division as a value-added business for the company
  • Drive consistent and best possible terms and conditions across the region
  • Identify new opportunities and market segments
  • To become a strong partner on the Advanced Solutions market for the customers and partners
  • To provide proactive support to Advanced Solutions sales team throughout the Canadian region and ensure country efforts are optimized and coordinated throughout the region.


  • Prepare sales and target plan for the division and take prime responsibility for its delivery via the sales teams of this division.
  • Define the direction for the Advanced Solutions division and to set clear goals and objectives.
  • Manage the division to ensure that all costs remain in line with the division budgets and provide the company with the best return on investment available.
  • Manage and develop the Advanced Solutions team through provision and direction or resources, including support and training.
  • Liaise and build relationships within our large business partners, customers and vendors.
  • Drive system developments to support improvements in the key areas of productivity, performance, associate satisfaction, and operating costs.
  • Staff the team given the business needs and in line with the headcount budget
  • Proactively seek ways to improve performance, service, associates, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop appropriate investment plan to drive long-term growth and profitability objectives
  • Drive key regional initiatives across segments, vendors and customers
  • Evaluate opportunities for building shared resource pools across region
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage from Advanced Solutions capabilities in other regions

  • Graduate Caliber with high business management/analytical capability MBA highly desirable.
  • This role demands an extensive knowledge of the IT industry and the Advanced Solutions market.
  • Previous experience managing a budget and developing a business unit.
  • 10 years management experience.
  • Excellent IT skills with ability to utilize Office Suite, Internet and intranet, including e-commerce and business analytics, among others
  • The financial scope for this role will be $1B+
