Position Summary:
The Associate III, Import/Export (Hazmat Classification) role is responsible for ensuring that hazardous materials are accurately classified according to regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting thorough analyses, maintaining detailed records, and providing expertise to ensure compliance with local, national, and international hazardous materials regulations.
This position requires familiarity with the fundamentals of the International Air Transport Association regulations in addition to Department of Transportation PHMSA Regulations.
This position requires a methodical approach to evaluating products in the technology industry, without sacrificing accuracy when delivering results through the release of order holds within department SLAs.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Product Classification
- Develop proficiency in the hazardous material classification of technology products, working closely with Sr. associates to confirm final classification decision.
- Determine hazardous material content for the classifications of technology products, working closely with Sr. associates to confirm final classification decision for inbound and outbound orders.
- Request and evaluate Manufacturer supplied classification information, working closely with Sr. associates to confirm final classification decision.
- Work with Vendor Management and procurements teams in support of hazmat classification requests for vendors when necessary.
2. Export Order Management
- Support the preparation of on demand reports and SKU lists for Compliance Specialists and Management
- Review and upload approved classification data as requested by Supervisor or Sr. Management
- Manage Vendor classification information, complete analysis and prepare upload files for review by Trade Compliance Specialists
- Maintain Vendor and internal compliance contact lists
- Support basic classification requests, database load requests, escalating to Supervisor and Sr. Trade Compliance Specialists as required.
- Report and assist in the immediate troubleshooting of any processing delays, errors, or exceptions that occur
- Continuously monitor and provide a timely response to email requests
3. Reporting and Admin
- Generate, maintain and manage reports designed to provide analytical support to specified users
- Run daily reporting, maintain trend files for compliance KPIs and performance metrics
- Administrative support for required regulatory and internal reporting requirements in a timely manner, not to exclude maintaining and publish audit metrics
- Generate ad-hoc reports as requested and produce information utilizing MS Excel functions, such as Vlookup, Pivot Tables, etc., to provide required output.
- Administrative support in the review of classification metrics and KPIs to analyze activity and trends for identifying process improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 1 year functional experience in Trade Compliance - hazardous materials classification or HS code, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and classification criteria.
- Above average English communication skills (Verbal and written)
- Willing to work on night shift schedule and hybrid setup (10 days RTO/month)
