Position Summary:
The Sr. Professional Oracle Database Engineer writes programs, as well as maintains and modifies existing applications programs. He/she must also document and execute test plans according to the requirement and can be assigned to support.
The Sr. Professional Oracle Database Engineer is also responsible for creating solutions for issues identified in the course of testing and following the Ingram Micro chosen applications development standards and methodologies.
The Sr. Professional Oracle Database Engineer works primarily on an independent basis within the guidelines given for delivery of technical work assignments. He/she must have great communication and collaboration skills and must be team oriented. He/she must be able to clearly provide detail on their progress on tasks and must be able to raise issues that would impact the delivery in a timely manner.
Shifts are between morning, mid or night with weekends as off-days although members can be asked to report to work at night and/or during weekends and/or holidays.
What you bring to the role:
Hands-on RAC / Data Guard and/or MySQL, Postgre and other high availability setup experience
Strong knowledge on Database architecture
Strong OS knowledge Linux/Unix/Windows file system and directory manipulation
Strong understanding of information systems and data structures
Strong understanding of database backup and recovery
Strong understanding of performance tuning concepts
Demonstrated scripting skills (shell scripting / PowerShell)
Strong knowledge of Structured Query Language with demonstrated use of procedures/functions/triggers in production environment.
Strong knowledge in access provisioning, database entity-relationship
Ability to perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations based on established procedures. Update documentation whenever necessary
Good understanding and practice of ITIL standards, processes, and concepts
Strong ability to analyze problems and prioritize, escalate as needed.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple initiatives.
Solid documentation skills
Ability to lead a group of technical resource and cultivate innovation.
Ability to provide prompt 7X24 on-call DBA support for mission critical applications.
