Position Summary: 

The Web Designer is responsible for designing, building websites and constructing web pages that accurately reflect client identity, objectives and goals. The position understands web design challenges, including browser and cross-platform compatibility, ensuring over-all quality and client satisfaction.

Essential Functions: Conceptualizes, designs and create web or media presentations, print materials, web graphics and email. Implements and tests developed presentations on HTML and CSS. Converts graphical and/or PSD designs into webpages email. 

  • Knowledge of: HTML, CSS and AJAX RoR based websites and applications, Subversion Source Control, Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Basic knowledge of Java and action scripting
  • Strong communication and interaction skills
  • MySQL development skills
  • Excellent skills using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, ImageReady, Dreamweaver and Flash
  • Ability to: Do Test Driven Development, with emphasis on the presentation layer Hand code HTML and use Dreamweaver for building websites
  • Multi-task work under tight deadlines
  • Respond to rapid changes
  • Manage details
  • Be a team player
  • Show a high sense of responsibility and professionalism

Other aspects of the job that are relevant:
Education: Formal education or training required such as degrees, courses of study, certification: Bachelor’s Degree or Post-secondary education in Media Arts or Graphic Design or any related field Experience: Minimum 3+ web design and web development experience Must have an extensive experience in converting graphical designs into web pages, experience in DOM and JavaScript Query know-how and simple web animation techniques and ability to use Photoshop and Illustrator to manipulate images, banners, emails and other client materials are a plus
