Position summary:

*Position is located in Irvine, California

The Director, International Controllership will have the responsibility in all aspects of strategic and operational accounting across the regions, acting as the principal accounting liaison between Corporate Controllership and to the Regional Extended Finance Support Teams and the Local Controllership Teams.  

The Director, International Controllership heads and mentors the Controllership community across the globe and is responsible for driving and educating local teams on the company’s global accounting policies and initiatives, as well as directing the financial vision to support successful operations and compliance with existing policy, procedures, and reporting deadlines. He/she manages, together with local Finance teams, the countries’ balance sheet reviews, internal audits, the external audit (and quarterly reviews), including SOX control work, quarterly reporting packages, adherence with corporate accounting policies, compliance with financial reporting deadlines, and overall US GAAP adherence.  Must be able to work well in a matrix organization. 

Your role:

Leadership & Team Management – 20%

  • Provide financial leadership for the EFS teams and country CFEs across the globe. Develop a highly skilled finance team to support business decisions and develop a control consciousness through all processes and functions.
  • Model high standards of management performance, influence individuals and teams positively and make informed decisions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and the efficiency of staff and procedures, including ongoing assessment of accounting skills in local organizations.
  • Coordinate staff to optimize the use of human and material resources to achieve goals. Consult with staff and review recommendations and reports.
  • Support learning and development for all staff in the function in the region.
  • Develops and executes staffing plans based on current and anticipated needs.
  • Establishes performance goals, develops measurable performance standards, and establishes necessary checkpoints to monitor progress across Finance organization.
  • Fully understands and supports Ingram Micro’s policies and procedures.
  • End Results: Lead and develop a highly efficient and supportive EFS team that helps supplement the country finance teams.

Controllership – 60%

  • Monitor the effective operation of all key processes and controls.
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are followed, and ensure records are maintained in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Ensure the development and preparation of financial and accounting information for management with US GAAP requirements and the needs of management.
  • Interpret US GAAP accounting standards, issue white papers and develop policies to be implemented in the countries.
  • Drive ongoing country balance sheet reviews. Interpret and report findings to relevant CFEs, internal audit and worldwide Controllership.
  • Responsible for coordinating the year-end financial statement audit, as well as quarterly reviews: including establishing a calendar, developing instructions, standard templates, setting expectations and targets, supervising dissemination and gathering of inputs, supervising preparation of analysis and consolidations, identifying issues for further analysis and/or refinement, reviewing consolidation and analysis of Plan, ad hoc analysis & preparation/review of memorandums and findings to senior management.
  • Maintain and monitor effective internal controls.
  • Adherence to Ingram Micro’s Code of Conduct and legal and ethical standards.
  • End Results: Coordination and sign-off from external auditors, internal auditors and tax advisors. SOX compliance. Effective coordination of balance sheet reviews.

Merger & Acquisitions (M&A) including integration – 20%

  • Being responsible to share best practices for and ensuring the successful integration of the following Finance Key Integration Areas:
  • Finance Organization: establish reporting lines, design future finance organization in the region, training of the staff on new tools, processes, policies.
  • Controls and Compliance: implement effective disclosure and controls procedures, ensure regulatory compliance as well as IM policy and procedures.
  • Financial Statement Consolidation: interim consolidation process to capture the financial activity of the new entities, implement accounting policies, ensure proper disclosure in financial statements, implement financial close process.
  • Evaluate annually the existing M&A playbook and post-acquisition documents to ensure timely and necessary updates are made.
  • Liaise with the Corporate development team during due diligence to answer technical accounting questions related to potential acquisitions.
  • Review purchase price accounting memorandums, valuations and workbooks for accuracy, reasonableness and overall compliance.
  • End Results: Acquired companies fully integrated from a Finance point of view – all IM processes, procedures, and policies in place. All post-acquisition documents are prepared and reviewed in accordance with US GAAP.

What you bring to the role:

  • CPA required
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience
  • Big 4 public accounting experience required; minimum of 5 years preferred
  • Team Leadership / People management / General Management experience
  • In-depth financial accounting and commercial finance knowledge
  • Expert in US GAAP
  • Good communication and presentation skills. Able to simplify complex arguments in both verbal and written communication.
  • Able to gain respect from and to influence senior management at all levels.
  • Experience in multi-country environment
  • Excellent planning skills
  • Strong intellectual horsepower and able to multi-task.
  • Sound process control knowledge
