Position Summary

This role is responsible for the monitoring and event management of company’s IT infrastructure and applications which includes servers, network, database, web and application systems critical to the business.  Additional responsibilities include incident management and support of daily batch job runs, systems support for all computing infrastructure, and critical incident management.  

A seasoned professional individual contributor.  Works independently with limited supervision.  May manage projects/processes/shift.  Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.  Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.

This role is expected to provide solutions to a variety of complex technical and business matters.  Will champion significant projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity.  May assist more junior staff members with aspects of their job. Incumbents provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in his/her area of specialization. Generally free to determine work priorities based on general direction from managers. 

Job Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • >9 years working in a NOC (Network Operation Center) or equivalent
  • >2 years’ experience as Critical Incident Manager
  • Graduate of any 4-year course, preferably IT
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Computer literate
  • Familiar in the use of Monitoring tools (BMC TrueSight/Tmart, SolarWinds NPM/SAM, BMC Control-M)
  • Broad and advanced knowledge of Operating Systems principles, Software Application principles and Network principles
  • Experience in systems support of Windows and Unix environment
  • Ability to understand issues related to network and willing to learn network technology
  • Experience in support of batch jobs, preferably BMC Control-M
  • Strong troubleshooting experience in a large-scale, multi-vendor, client/server infrastructure
  • Experience in complex triage and impact determination
  • Strong ability to drive the continual improvement and delivery of the Incident Management process
  • Strong ability to analyze problems and effectively prioritize, resolve and/or escalate as needed
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software architectures
  • In-depth understanding of performance tuning concepts
  • In-depth experience in monitoring and supporting application batch jobs
  • Good understanding of TCP-IP Concepts, SNMP, AD, dhcp, windows/UNIX services
  • Strong understanding and practice of ITIL concepts, processes and practice
  • Strong Ability to multi-task and prioritize on multiple initiatives
  • Solid documentation skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of multi-site, mixed-technology enterprise environments
  • Detail oriented, able to work effectively under deadlines in changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently
  • Able to work independently and with a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision making
  • Demonstrated competency in supporting of global systems
  • Very strong communication skills both written and verbal with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
