Ingram Micro’s Partner Technical Enablement organization consists of charismatic technology professionals and veteran IT leaders who are oftentimes highly certified experts in their field. We call these professionals Technology Consultants (“TCs”). Our TCs engage Ingram’s reseller partners to provide comprehensive pre-sales consulting services based on technical best-practices, market research, solution awareness, and today’s proven sales practices. This expertise provides our reseller partners a competitive advantage and the ability to serve new markets with new technologies at an accelerated pace. 

Technology Consultants provide selected reseller partners prescriptive advice and strategic guidance that helps them: 

  • Establish partnerships with key vendors and manufacturers
  • Learn about new and emerging products and technologies
  • Achieve new skills via certifications and accreditation achievements
  • Develop new capabilities (typically services-based)
  • Connect with the vast array of Ingram resources and value-adding services available to them 

As a result, reseller partners gain accelerated business growth; further differentiation in the market versus their competition; and increased client loyalty / delight.  

Position specifics: This Technology Consultant I or II position is focused on IBM’s software portfolio, with the potential for specialization in {Data Analytics, Automation, and/or Cybersecurity} technologies and solutions – depending on the candidate’s background, interest, and capabilities.

 

Data Analytics: IBM Analytics can collect, organize and analyze your data, and accelerate your journey to AI. IBM Analytics offerings include IBM Planning Analytics, SPSS, Cognos Analytics and IBM Cloud Pak for Data. 

Cybersecurity: IBM security products help protect your organization with proven solutions for intelligence analysis, fraud protection and mobile security. 

Automation: IBM Automation transforms work and simplifies how businesses operate. AI accelerates innovation by making every interaction, experience, and process more intelligent. Whether you want to automate complex IT operations that span the entire organization, or automate repetitive business tasks, IBM AI-powered automation reduces manual processes.

 

IBM requires its distributors to hold various technical badges and certifications on a quarterly and annual basis. As such, this Technology Consultant would be responsible for regularly achieving technical accreditation and technical certification achievements (up to and possibly including IBM Cloud Pak certifications) – along with the other technologists on the team. All courseware, learning materials, training and testing fees will be provided by IBM or Ingram for this position.

What you bring to the role: 

  • Specialization or interest in one or more of the following areas: Data analytics & AI; Cybersecurity; Automation (both Network & Business Automation). Background with associated IBM software products a plus.
  • Recognized subject matter expert with ability to receive/retain/recommunicate specialized knowledge
  • Ability to achieve associated certifications/accreditations in a timely manner, on a regular basis.
  • Possess the strongest of skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience.
  • May be the in-house expert on specific technologies or within the job function area.
  • Ability to communicate what you know in a compelling and intriguing manner; in-person, on stage and/or through digital media
  • Provides solutions to a variety of advanced complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Determines and develops approach to solve functional area related issues in concert with peers and internal resources.
  • Goals are provided to the incumbent in form of desired results.
  • Highly self-sufficient; resourceful; limited oversight from manager.

 

Four-year college degree (or additional relevant experience in a related field). Minimum 8 years functional experience including a minimum of 5 years position specific experience.
