This position is a hybrid role based in our Mississauga, Ontario office with the opportunity to work 2 days remotely per week.
Responsibilities
- Review sales arrangements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with policy and Revenue Recognition Accounting Standards – ASC 606.
- Partner with the Commercial team to review multi-year and other customer contracts to identify accounting and monitor compliance with the Company’s revenue recognition policies.
- Identify revenue implications through contract review and take the initiative to perform guidance research.
- Evaluate and document the accounting treatment for non-standard transactions.
- Partner with Vendor Management, Legal, Sales and Sales Operation, FP&A, and other Finance teams for review during contract review.
- Responsible for other finance functions including but not limited to treasury, foreign exchange and banking.
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation preferred.
- An experienced finance professional with 5+ years of progressive financial and accounting experience.
- Strong software revenue recognition knowledge in the areas of ASC 606, and related revenue recognition pronouncements under US GAAP and IFRS preferably gained in the software industry with 2+ years of experience or in an audit of Big 4 accounting firms.
- Experience with multiple business models such as SaaS, on-premise licenses, and services.
- Great interpersonal skills to collaborate with different individuals across the organization and the ability to impart ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- Highly organized, exhibits high levels of attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Magellan and OneStream is an asset.
- Must be advanced in Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
