Meet Ferry Nijhuis, our Benelux Finance Project Manager!
Let's shape tomorrow.

Who are you and what makes you unique?
I’m 51 years old, I started in Ingram Micro after I was let go from my previous role and have worked for Ingram Micro for 27 years now. I always say I joined Ingram Micro to pay the wedding bills, and now 27 years later I’m still here, which means either very expensive bills or maybe I just love this company!
I’m married with no children currently. I’ve been in finance for my entire career, doing everything from accounts payable, to supervisor, to managerial roles as well, and I have enjoyed each position I’ve done along the way!
My career within Ingram Micro was thanks to the right opportunity arising at the right time, and I was ready to take the step and fill those spaces within the organization.
What part(s) of your role are giving you energy?
When I moved into management I had to let go/delegate certain tasks which I’ve been used to doing my entire career, and for me this was a little weird, however, it also means I get to teach and guide others now how to complete them, and seeing them progress is a truly fulfilling experience.
This industry we operate in is always changing and requires constant adaptation, which may not be for everyone, but I enjoy it greatly and it’s expanded my skill set and experience.
Seeing people grow professionally is what gives me energy each day.
What kind of role do you play in your team?
Due to my role within the finance team, I have contact with people in various different departments and countries, so I have to be able to collaborate effectively and thanks to my many years of experience and approach to work I feel like a linking pin between these different stakeholders.
How do you switch off from work/relax?
I really enjoy my time outside of work, which allows me to enjoy my time at work. I have lots of big dinners with family and friends, go for regular cycles when the weather is nice, and when the weather is not, then I cycle indoors! I usually cycle around 80km a week, which means I get to stay in shape and also clear my head so I’m fresh to face work!
I have a habit of traveling the world as well, experiencing different cultures, and seeing how other people live in different countries and continents can help you face the world with open eyes. Since I like to travel, I also have a lot of friends internationally whom I stay in touch with.
What motto/idea do you try to live by?
You need to enjoy every day, don’t wait for later. This can also apply to your work and your day to day, it’s fun to take on the responsibility and push yourself.
