Solid preparation for an interview helps you present yourself in the best way possible, confidently and professionally.

In the following article, you will find our guidelines to help you get ready for both formats and step into a new chapter of your life.

Preparation Before the Interview

First, make sure you’ve done your research. Start by reviewing the company’s history. Understanding what drives the organization will help you align your answers and show genuine interest.

Next, look into recent news, projects, and initiatives; being aware of current developments will give you confidence when these topics come up during the conversation. And if you have a few extra minutes, check out the corporate social media profiles too (we have a great Instagram by the way!).

Now it’s time to understand the position. You can do that by reading the job description carefully. After all, this is your roadmap to what we expect. Prepare examples from your experience that match the required skills, whether it is Excel knowledge or time management. These stories help us picture you in the role. Finally, we encourage you to prepare answers to common questions like:

  • “Tell me about yourself.”
  • “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  • “Why do you want to work here?”
  • “Describe a challenging situation and how you resolved it.”

Aim for natural, confident answers rather than memorized scripts. Authenticity stands out!

It is also a good idea to prepare questions for the Interviewer. This will allow you to visualize your day-to-day experience in the company and to show your engagement and motivation. It signals that you’ve taken the time to understand the role and are already thinking ahead about how you might contribute.

Preparing for an In-Person Interview

Now let’s take a look at the guidance for the On-site Interview.

Appearance and Dress Code

  • Choose an outfit that matches the company culture - this shows that you understand and respect the environment you’re stepping into, whether it’s more formal or relaxed.
  • Aim for a neat, clean, and professional look - you’ll feel more confident too! A polished appearance communicates reliability and attention to detail before you even speak. Plus, when you feel put-together, it’s easier to focus on the conversation and make a strong impression.

Be Punctual

  • Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early - This buffer gives you time to settle in, gather your thoughts, and avoid rushing. It also signals reliability and respect for the interviewer’s schedule.
  • Check the route and travel time in advance. No surprises = calmer nerves! Knowing exactly how to get there helps prevent last-minute stress or delays.

Body Language

  • Maintain eye contact and offer a confident handshake.
  • Keep upright posture and use calm, controlled gestures.
  • Smile and stay engaged throughout the conversation.

Preparing for an Online Interview

Now this is a very specific one, because it doesn’t always depend on you… or does it? In the era of constant connectivity, it feels like technology should work flawlessly. But we all know that sometimes it has a mind of its own. That’s why it’s always worth double-checking your setup before an online interview - just a few quick steps can save you from surprise glitches.

Technical Preparation

  • Test your internet connection, microphone, and camera.
  • Get to know the platform (we’re on Teams by the way!)
  • Ensure your device is fully charged or plugged in - simple but essential.

Environment

  • Use a neutral background and ensure good lighting - it helps keep the focus on you.
  • Choose a quiet space free from distractions.

Professional Behavior

  • Dress as you would for an in-person interview – no pajama bottoms, unless you're willing to risk standing up!
  • Look into the camera when speaking to simulate eye contact.
  • Use headphones to avoid echo or background noise – they usually improve the audio quality plus avoid echo, background noise, and your neighbor’s vacuum cleaner!

Backup Plan

  • Keep your phone nearby as a backup in case of technical issues.
  • If something goes wrong, stay calm and inform the interviewer - everyone has fought with technology - it builds empathy.

During the Interview

During the interview, it’s important to communicate clearly and confidently. Speaking at a steady pace helps you maintain a calm and professional tone, while avoiding long pauses keeps the conversation flowing naturally.

Active listening is just as essential - try not to interrupt, even if the perfect answer suddenly pops into your mind. Showing that you can communicate thoughtfully and respectfully is a great way to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Another key element is highlighting your achievements in a structured and memorable way. The STAR method - Situation, Task, Action, Result - is an excellent tool for presenting your experience clearly and convincingly. It allows you to walk the interviewer through real examples of your work while keeping your storytelling focused.

When possible, include measurable results; numbers and specific outcomes help illustrate your impact in a way that’s easy to understand.

Finally, don’t underestimate the importance of enthusiasm. Demonstrating genuine interest in the role and the company shows that you’re not just looking for any job and you truly want to become part of the team.
