Director, Category Management & Growth Strategy

This role will lead the strategy and performance of an underdeveloped portfolio with significant growth potential. The ideal candidate can identify where to invest limited resources, build strong vendor partnerships, leverage data to make decisions, and develop strategies that drive measurable business results.

What You'll Do
Portfolio Growth & Strategy
- Develop, launch, and execute growth strategies across a portfolio of technology vendors.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate revenue growth and improve portfolio performance.
- Prioritize investments, programs, and resources based on business impact, growth potential, and strategic value.
- Evaluate market trends, customer demand, and competitive activity to guide business strategy.
- Launch new initiatives, measure results, and scale successful programs across multiple vendors and technology categories.
- Balance long-term strategic planning with near-term execution.
- Bring an entrepreneurial approach to identifying untapped opportunities and transforming them into meaningful business outcomes.
Vendor & Business Development
- Build executive relationships with vendor leaders and strategic partners.
- Develop joint business plans and growth initiatives that drive measurable results.
- Influence vendor investments and engagement strategies.
- Serve as a strategic partner across sales, marketing, and business leadership teams.
- Leverage successful growth initiatives and best practices to expand impact across an extensive vendor portfolio.
Data, Analytics & Innovation
- Use business insights, analytics, and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
- Leverage AI and automation to improve efficiency, productivity, and business outcomes.
- Identify scalable opportunities to improve portfolio performance and customer engagement.
- Use data to determine which strategies should be expanded, optimized, or replicated across vendor categories.
Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, agility, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive execution and business results.
- Champion an entrepreneurial mindset that encourages experimentation, smart risk-taking, and growth-oriented thinking.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in category management, vendor management, business development, channel strategy, portfolio management, technology distribution, or related commercial leadership roles.
- Experience leading teams and delivering results through others.
- Proven ability to develop, launch, and execute growth strategies that drive revenue, market share, and business performance.
- Demonstrated success scaling high-impact initiatives, programs, or growth strategies across multiple vendors, categories, or business segments.
- Strong strategic thinking and business planning skills.
- Experience prioritizing opportunities and resources across multiple initiatives with competing demands.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to make business decisions.
- Demonstrated learning agility and the ability to quickly understand new technologies, vendors, and markets.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent communication, influence, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
- Experience working effectively across matrixed organizations and with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency using AI tools, analytics, and technology to improve business outcomes.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience managing technology vendor portfolios within networking, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, or emerging technology categories.
- Experience leading SMB-focused sales, category management, or business development teams.
- Experience driving turnaround or growth initiatives within underperforming business segments.
- Experience managing profitability, forecasting, business planning, or P&L responsibilities.
- Knowledge of technology distribution, channel ecosystems, and partner-led growth models.
- MBA or advanced business degree.
- Experience leading digital transformation, automation, or AI-enabled business initiatives.
- Experience identifying repeatable growth strategies and scaling successful outcomes across large vendor portfolios, multi-category businesses, or complex partner ecosystems.

This position requires significant travel, up to 50%.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,700.00 - $272,500.00 per year.
The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.

These awards are allocated based on position level and individual performance.
