Ila Kelikova’s Journey at Ingram Micro: From Security to Cloud
Ila Kelikova Solutions Sales Specialist (Inside Sales) The Netherlands
Ila Kelikova joined Ingram Micro two years ago, embarking on her first corporate role. Little did she know how much her career would evolve in such a brief time. Initially hired in the security department, Ila quickly found herself exploring exciting opportunities within the Cloud department, where she developed a passion for technology and working with people.
Her journey began with a warm welcome from the security team. “Even though I felt a bit out of place due to my lack of direct experience, they made sure to include me as much as possible,” Ila recalls. This supportive environment made her feel comfortable and eager to grow her knowledge. “With my own need to grow my knowledge, this was the perfect formula to trigger my development.”
After five months, Ila transferred to the Cloud department, starting within the Azure unit. This mature unit focuses on helping partners develop their Microsoft infrastructure business. The fast-paced environment was challenging, but with the help of her experienced colleagues, Ila quickly adapted. “My experienced colleagues helped me to quickly adapt,” she says.
Motivated by her success, Ila later transferred to the AWS unit, where she continues to work happily today. When an AWS colleague resigned, Ila saw an opportunity to join a unit with great potential. “I expressed my interest to my manager, eager to contribute to its development,” she shares.
Ila is grateful for where she is today. She has learned a great deal, thanks to the genuine help and feedback from her peers. “Ingram Micro fosters an open environment where people feel accepted and supported,” Ila notes. This culture allows everyone to manage their workday, which Ila appreciates. Initially, she struggled with creating her structure, but her peers helped her find a comfortable and
realistic workflow. “My peers helped me find a comfortable and realistic workflow.”
Ila’s advice to others starting a new role in a corporate environment is to be genuine. “This makes it easier to find a working flow and allows your peers to collaborate effectively with you,” she advises. Teamwork and communication are crucial, as completing tasks requires team effort. Ila encourages everyone to be passionately curious. “Be passionately curious,” she concludes.
