Position Summary
As an Equipment Operator, you will play a key role in supporting safe and efficient warehouse operations by operating powered material handling equipment to move, load, unload, and organize materials throughout the facility.
What You’ll Do
- ·Operate gas- or electric-powered forklifts and other material handling equipment to safely move, stack, load, and unload materials, parts, components, and finished goods.
- Transport materials throughout the warehouse while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Load and unload transport vehicles, moving raw materials, work-in-process products, and finished goods to and from designated warehouse areas.
- Perform required forklift and equipment safety inspections before and during operation and report any safety or equipment concerns promptly.
- Follow established safety procedures, operating guidelines, and company policies when handling materials and operating equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control activities.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or other issues to appropriate team members or management.
- Assist with warehouse, shipping, receiving, and material handling activities as business needs require.
- Provide guidance, assistance, and on-the-job training to less experienced team members when appropriate.
- Serve as a resource to team members by sharing knowledge of equipment operation, warehouse procedures, and safety practices.
- Work independently on routine assignments and use sound judgment to resolve issues or recommend appropriate solutions.
- Maintain productivity, accuracy, and safety standards while supporting overall warehouse operations.
What You Bring to the Role
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of relevant functional experience, preferably in a senior-level capacity; OR
- Two-year college degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years of relevant functional experience.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and/or other powered material handling equipment in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain required certification, as applicable.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, material handling, shipping and receiving, and inventory control.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and use sound judgment when addressing operational issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy and safe material handling practices.
- Ability to explain procedures, practices, and policies clearly to team members and collaborate effectively with individuals outside of the immediate work area.
- Demonstrated ability to support and mentor less experienced employees.
- Ability to adapt working methods when needed while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a range of moderately complex assignments and make recommendations when appropriate.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $38,800.00 - $62,100.00 per year.
The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
