From Intern to Innovator of Tomorrow

Sometimes, all it takes is one spontaneous decision to shape your career path. That’s exactly how Blagovesta Hadjieva’s journey with our Beyond the Degree internship program in Bulgaria began – with a simple application and an open mind. What followed, however, was far from a typical internship experience. Instead of just observing, Blagovesta became an active part of the team, working on real projects, building practical skills, and gaining hands-on experience from day one.
Today, that same intern is a full-time member of our Legal team, continuing to grow and contribute in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Here’s what she shared with us.
I applied for the Beyond the Degree internship program rather spontaneously, after coming across a post and deciding to take a chance. I joined Ingram Micro without strong expectations, assuming it might resemble many internships where learning is largely observational. Instead, I found myself part of a well‑organized and genuinely engaging program that combined hands‑on legal work, structured legal training, and professional development workshops delivered by the HR and Talent Development teams. It quickly became clear that a lot of intention and care had gone into creating a meaningful experience for interns.
Throughout the program, I had the chance to build practical skills through workshops focusing on areas such as time management, financial basics, and business communication. At the same time, my work within the Legal team was what made the experience truly stand out. From the very beginning, my manager involved me in real legal tasks, carefully balancing theory with practice. I worked on contract reviews, managed signature processes, assisted with corporate governance matters, and communicated with internal stakeholders, which gave me a realistic understanding of how legal work functions within a corporate environment.
What I appreciated most was being treated as a real member of the team. I was trusted with responsibility early on, always with supportive guidance, which helped me gain confidence in my judgment and abilities much faster than I expected. That trust encouraged me to be curious, take initiative, and continuously learn. The leadership and openness I experienced, not only within the Legal team, but across the Bulgarian organization, played a major role in my decision to continue my professional path at Ingram Micro.
Now, as a full‑time member of the Legal department, I am involved in even more interesting and challenging projects and continue to learn every day from colleagues who are not only skilled professionals but also generous with their knowledge and support. What I value most about Ingram Micro, and especially about the Legal team, is the culture of cooperation, flexibility, and innovation. It is an environment where people feel trusted, supported, and encouraged to grow, which makes it a place where I genuinely enjoy learning and developing professionally.
For anyone considering applying to the Beyond the Degree internship program, I would genuinely encourage it. It is a great opportunity for those who want more than a formal internship and are looking for real involvement, meaningful responsibility, and guidance from people who are truly invested in their development.
