On September 20, IM HOPE once again lived up to its battle cry — Reach the Unreachable. For the first time, our volunteers journeyed to Barangay Sto. Niño in Tanay, Rizal, to bring hope, light, and opportunities to the Dumagat community.

The trip itself was a story of commitment — an hour and a half of travel, crossing flowing streams (batis), and braving remote paths — proof that when the mission is to serve, no distance is too far.
This initiative marked our very first collaboration with the IM Basketball Club, alongside our long-standing partner, Solar Hope Foundation, which has been delivering solar solutions and youth programs since 2021.

A Day of Light and Play

Through Araw ng Pag-asa: Laro at Liwanag para sa Dumagat, IM HOPE extended support to an unelectrified community still dependent on kerosene and generators.
Our efforts brought both sustainable energy and empowering activities to Sto. Niño:

  • Energy Access: 30 Dumagat households received solar home systems, granting children the chance to study at night for the very first time.
What many take for granted — switching on a light — became a life-changing gift.
  • Sports Empowerment: Sto. Niño School received a new basketball board, volleyball poles, and a refurbished court.
Forty Dumagat youth joined a sports clinic, friendly games, and an equipment turnover where the IM Basketball Club shared not only skills but also camaraderie and encouragement.

First-Time Journeys, Lasting Impressions

For many volunteers, this was their first outreach experience. The laughter of children playing basketball, the joy of families seeing their homes illuminated, and the heartfelt welcome from the community left a deep imprint on everyone’s hearts.

One volunteer shared:

“It was life-changing to meet people who have so little yet give so much warmth. It made me realize how often we forget to be grateful for the things we have, like electricity or a ball to play with, that others can only dream of.”

Reaching the Unreachable Together

The day closed not only with solar lights turned on and sports games won, but with spirits lifted — both ours and theirs.
IM HOPE’s vision to Reach the Unreachable is not just about crossing rivers or mountains; it is about reaching hearts, bridging gaps, and proving that together, we can create brighter, stronger communities.

For the Dumagat youth who can now study under the light, for the volunteers who stepped out of their comfort zones, and for everyone who believes in the power of hope — this is just the beginning.
