Monaliza Ladisla joined Ingram Micro as an associate, driven by a desire to work in Finance (Collections). From the beginning, she was motivated to advance and be promoted. "I realized I wanted more," Monaliza recalls. "I wanted to advance and be promoted."
Her journey wasn't without setbacks, but Monaliza learned from each challenge and, with the support of her managers, transitioned into leadership. She progressed from Senior Associate to Assistant Team Leader and eventually to Supervisor. “The support from my managers was crucial in my transition into leadership.”
Monaliza made the most of the training opportunities available, from online courses on LinkedIn to leadership development programs run by Talent Development. She also learned from those around her—co-supervisors, team members, and managers—through regular feedback and discussions. "My growth has been driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to face new challenges head-on."
Leadership for her is framed and anchored with the thought of treating the business as her own, empowering her with accountability influential in developing her team members.
One of Monaliza's key strategies for overcoming obstacles is focusing on her circle of influence. "When dealing with obstacles, focus on your circle of influence—what you can control—rather than letting concerns weigh you down," she advises. Monaliza also emphasizes the importance of staying humble and asking for guidance when needed. “Our managers are always there to support you.” She delves on seeking out help could only result in a win-win resolution. It allowed her empower her team on tasks that can help her in return while increasing their level of responsibility to match and showcase their potential.
For Monaliza, the road to leadership, while challenging, has also been exciting and rewarding. "The road to leadership is challenging, but it can also be exciting and surprisingly fun."
