Ingram Micro is committed to building a sustainable future, and our MEA region is leading the way with a transformative initiative that addresses key environmental challenges. We sat down with our Administration, Facilities & Wellbeing Manager to learn more about this ambitious project, which focuses on reducing disposable plastic usage, conserving electricity, and transitioning office vehicles to hybrid and electric models. Her insights reveal the passion and strategy behind this movement toward a greener workplace.

The project tackles several pressing environmental issues:

  • Reducing Disposable Plastic Usage
By cutting down on disposable plastics, we’re not just reducing waste—we’re protecting ecosystems and conserving resources, she explained. This shift also decreases our reliance on fossil fuels used in plastic production.
  • Saving Electricity
Energy conservation is a direct way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, she said. Every kilowatt saved helps us fight climate change.
  • Transitioning to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
Transportation is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Switching to hybrid and electric vehicles is a game-changer, she noted. It improves air quality and supports public health.

Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations
We’ve partnered with country managers and our global ESG team to ensure alignment and success, she shared. Their support has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward.

Promoting Biodiversity and Reducing Carbon Footprint
The project includes:
• Energy-efficient systems like LED lighting and smart thermostats.
• Renewable energy adoption, such as solar and wind.
• Carbon offsetting through reforestation and clean energy investments.
These efforts help us reduce emissions and promote biodiversity, she emphasized.

Waste Reduction Best Practices
We’ve introduced recycling bins for clothing and e-waste across MEA offices, she said.
This not only prevents landfill damage but also encourages responsible disposal.

Stakeholder Engagement and CSR Activities
Stakeholders have embraced the change wholeheartedly, she stated.
Their leadership inspires others. We also organize beach cleanups and tree planting to engage associates and promote sustainability.

Lessons Learned
• Stakeholder Engagement:
Their feedback helped us tailor the project to meet real environmental and social needs.
• Data-Driven Decisions:
Accurate data has been key to making informed choices and measuring impact.
• Sustainable Practices:
Starting with sustainability in mind builds credibility and long-term success.
• Continuous Improvement:
We’re always learning, adapting, and improving. That’s how real change happens.

This initiative is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and innovation. By addressing environmental challenges head-on and fostering collaboration, we’re setting a new standard for responsible business practices in the MEA region.
